Woman Charged With Lending Truck To Man With 11 DUIs

Man Who Allegedly Borrowed Truck Faces Charges In Teens' Deaths

UPDATED: 5:56 pm EST March 18, 2006

A woman who allegedly provided her pickup truck to a convicted drunken driver was charged Friday in connection with a crash that killed two Hiram College students on March 2, NewsChannel5 reported.

Karen Hensley, 50, was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Police said she lent her pickup truck to James Cline, 48, who has 11 drunken driving convictions.

Police said Cline was driving her truck when he was being chased by police and hit a car carrying three students. Grace Chamberlain and Andrew Hopkins, both 18, were killed. The third teenager remains hospitalized.

Police said Cline's blood-alcohol level was .304, nearly four times the legal limit. He was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter..

Officials said they believe this is the first case in Ohio where a person has been charged with providing a car to a chronic drunken driver who is implicated in a fatal crash.

Hensley could face five years in prison if she is convicted.
