Local Leaders Ask Congress To Let Teen Stay In U.S.

Immigration Orders Teen's Deportation Due To Paperwork Mix-Up

Local mayors and city managers are requesting that Congress let a northern Ohio teen stay in the country permanently, NewsChannel5 reported.

A resolution was sent to Congress on behalf of Manuel Bartsch. Immigration authorities want to deport the Ohio high school student because of a paperwork mix-up.

Bartsch came to the U.S. from his native Germany nine years ago, as a fourth-grader. He came with his grandfather on a 90-day Visa but never applied for permanent citizenship.

Bartsch was detained in a local jail late last year until a judge granted him a temporary stay.
