Jury To Begin Deliberating In Case Shooting Trial
Charges Against Halder Reduced From 338 To 196

CLEVELAND -- Closing argument have wrapped up in the trial of Biswanath Halder, and the jury will begin deliberations Thursday morning.Halder is accused of going on a seven-hour shooting rampage in which one person was killed and two were hurt at Case Western Reserve University's campus in May 2003. Case student Norman Wallace was killed.In court Wednesday, the counts against Halder were reduced from 338 to 196. The judge also dropped the terrorism charges against Halder.In its closing statement, the prosecution painted a picture of Halder's using an automatic weapon during the seven-hour shooting spree.But the defense said that Halder was provoked after repeatedly being ridiculed by other students on campus, and by someone breaking into his computer and deleting files.Jurors were given final instructions after closing arguments and will be sequestered as they try to reach a verdict.
