Prosecutors Show Security Video In Case Shooting Trial

Students Give Testimony About Rampage That Left 1 Dead

POSTED: 12:42 pm EST December 1, 2005

The trial of Biswanath Halder continued Thursday as the prosecution makes its way down a list of 118 witnesses.

Halder, 64, is accused of killing a person and injuring others while on a rampage at Case Western Reserve University in May 2003.

Witnesses for the prosecution described how Halder stormed into Case's business school building and fatally shot graduate student Norman Wallace.

On Wednesday, prosecutors showed clips of security video. In it, Halder can be seen smashing a glass door to get inside the building, prosecutors said.

The tape also shows Wallace chatting with a receptionist moments before he was gunned down.

In testimony Wednesday, student Jonathan Brickner said he was talking to Wallace when Halder fired.

Prosecutors say Halder attacked the school because he believed a school computer lab employee hacked into Halder's Web site.

A former neighbor also testified that he heard Halder say he would, "make them pay."

Halder, originally from Calcutta, India, is charged with 202 felony counts, including aggravated murder and terrorism. The terrorism charge is based on a law Ohio adopted to strengthen its ability to prevent and respond to acts of terrorism after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
