Reward Increased To $25,000 In Deadliest House Fire
Families Remember 9 Victims 6 Months After Arson

CLEVELAND -- It was nearly six months ago when the pain started for the families of the victims of the East 87th Street fire.
Cleveland's deadliest house fire claimed the lives of eight children and a mother on May 21. NewsChannel5 reported that the reward for information in this arson fire was just increased to $25,000.Tom Ganley, of the Ganley Auto Group, came to NewsChannel5 Wednesday to announce his intention to up the reward from $20,000 to $25,000, the biggest crime reward in northeast Ohio's history.NewsChannel5's Joe Pagonakis reported that Miles Cockfield, 13, was killed by toxic smoke produced by a fire set by an arsonist at the home. His mother shares her continued pain a half year later. "I can't say even if you lost a child you would know the pain. There's no words for it," Crystal Ingram said. A group of children who stayed together as a family, and tragically died together. The 33-year-old mother, Madeia Carter, who took the children into her home, was killed. Pagonakis said that it was a birthday party sleepover that turned into murder at the hands of an arsonist. Carter's sister also lost her 13-year-old son, Earnest Tate Jr., in the fire. "It's hard to lose a child, a sister. It's extremely hard," Shelfie Carter said. Children, like 12-year-old Shauntavia Mitchell, 7-year-old Fakih Jones, 14-year-old Antwon Jackson, 15-year-old Devonte Carter, 12-year-old Maleeya Williams and her brother, 14-year-old Moses William Jr. and Miles had their whole lives ahead of them. "I want him here, I want him here. You can see the tears our kids are crying. We need someone who will help us out. We need some help," Ingram said.
