MARBLEHEAD, Ohio -- A search has been called off for a man believed to be in the waters of Lake Erie. The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Coast Guard and Canadian search and rescue crews searched for Donald Placko, 64, Sunday night. The crews spent 40 hours of air and sea sorties covering 120 square miles, the Coast Guard said. A good Samaritan discovered Placko's 24-foot pleasure craft Sunday and notified Station Marblehead when he noticed the keys in the ignition with no one on board.
