Mechanic Allegedly Taints Co-Workers' Coffee With Urine

No Workers Were Made Ill

POSTED: 10:55 am EDT August 25, 2005

An area mechanic at the Akron main post office allegedly put urine in co-workers' coffee.

The Akron Beacon Journal, NewsChannel5’s news partner, reported Thomas Shaheen, 49, of Springfield Township, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of adulteration of food or placing harmful objects in food.

The newspaper reported that the workers at the complex suspected something was being placed in their coffee, so they installed a video camera.

Shaheen allegedly poured urine into coffee in the break room on July 5 and then again on July 6.

No workers were made ill.

Shaheen has been a postal employee for 11 years.

He is due in court on Monday.
