Witnesses told police the drivers during this game jumped out and ran around the car. Then, the passenger would slide over and drive until both or one of the cars would stop. The winner is considered the one who keeps going, WEWS reported."He was driving his car from the passenger side. That's what he was doing, so there was no driver. He was driving from the passenger side," said Catlina Quinones. After the car hit the people, a crowd converged and started beating up the driver. The 58-year-old driver is in a hospital with what police believe may be a broken neck.Police Lt. Thomas Stacho said there were reports of fooling around with vehicles, but it's unclear whether the driver who drove the car into a crowd had been fooling around or just driving erratically.Fourteen of the 19 victims drove themselves to the hospital. Seven people remain hospitalized.Stephen Gonzales said he saw everything."He (the driver) went over the pole and everybody that was on the sidewalk just took them down like dominoes little kids," Gonzales said. "Little babies went flying and he went dead on into the pole. Once he hit the pole, people just opened the door and started beating the guy up, and it got crazy -- just got crazy."Police say skid marks in a nearby parking lot make it clear that stunting driving and drag racing are the norm in the Clark Avenue neighborhood.Because of the stunt driving incident, police will step up patrols in the area. The driver's name and condition are not being released. The case has been turned over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury, which is considering four counts of felony vehicular assault.
