BARBERTON, Ohio -- Camp Auto Salvage, a family-owned Barberton business, has been in business for 30 years. But as NewsChannel5’s Jonathan Costen reported, the business faced a huge struggle after it was robbed twice in three days."They stole our wheels, took off the aluminum wheels of our rack. And if once wasn't bad enough they came back and did it two nights later and took some more," said Mark Lowe.Police think the thieves either jumped the barb wire fence or cut the lock. The owner said they got away with nearly 200 wheels, valued at $7,100. The racks are nearly empty now.“It hurts us bad because we're a small business, I mean it's family owned and we work every day just to make it meet ends," Lowe said. So, the family took action. Fed up with the robberies, the owners decided to have a stakeout, waiting to see if the thieves returned. They stopped the thieves from getting anything, but most of them got away in a stolen van, police said. One juvenile was caught after the other suspects left him behind.Police said the suspect in custody is not talking and there is no physical evidence at the scene. Police believe the wheels are being unloaded at local scrap yards.Workers at the company said they are confident that the suspects will be brought to justice.Anyone with information about the break-ins at Camp Auto Salvage are asked to call Summit County Crime Stoppers at (330) 434-COPS.
