CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Municipal School District will be closed Tuesday so that students, teachers and other district employees can attend the funeral for eight victims of last week's tragic fire.

The funeral will be for one adult and seven children, all of whom were students at Cleveland schools.

The funeral will be for:

It will take place at the Public Hall inside the Cleveland Convention Center at 9:30 a.m.

The school board came to the decision to close schools at the recommendation of CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett.

"This is a fitting response by the District to this unimaginable tragedy,” said Byrd-Bennett.

The funeral for the ninth person killed in the east side fire, 13-year-old Miles Cockfield, will take place 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Word Church.
