Woman Applies For Job, But Gets Arrested

Background Check Finds 17 Traffic Violations

POSTED: 6:48 am EDT May 4, 2005

A woman who applied for a job as a dispatcher with the Amherst police department said she didn't know her traffic tickets would be a problem.

After Laurie Ralston applied for the job, police did a background check and found she has 17 traffic convictions, including seven speeding tickets and two citations for driving without a license.

She was called back for what she was told would be an interview.

Instead, she was arrested and charged with failing to appear in court and driving without a license.

Ralston said she had no idea police were after her.
