MANSFIELD, Ohio -- The father of a brain-damaged baby posted bond Tuesday and is out of jail after being charged with causing his sons injuries.
Matthew Stein was arrested this weekend in Mansfield after a grand jury indicted him on charges of assault and child endangering.
SLIDESHOW: Comatose Baby Investigators believe he shook his son, Aiden, and caused the 17-month-old's severe brain damage. The infant has been in a vegetative state for more than a year. After posting $250,000 bond, Stein spoke out, denying that he harmed his son. "I didn't do anything to him. All we did was wake up that morning, I made his bottle, he started choking and I took him down the hall," said Stein. "I mean, to have your son in your arms down the hall while he's not breathing, it was the worst thing any parent has to go through."Aiden Stein remains at Akron Children's Hospital in intensive care."For my last judgment, I don't want God to say you killed your son because you've taken him off life support," Stein said.At least one doctor says Aiden will die within a year from his extensive injuries.
