Hines Jury Tells Judge It Reached Impass On 3 Charges
Deliberations Will Resume Tuesday Morning

CLEVELAND -- A jury has still not reached a verdict in the attempted rape trial of Daniel Hines. NewsChannel5's Tracy Carloss reported that jurors sent word to the judge during their deliberations Monday that they had not been able to reach a consensus on three of the charges against Hines. The judge told jurors to wrap up for the day and continue in Tuesday morning.Hines is accused of attempting to rape his 13-year-old cousin. Prosecutors say he also used a knife, VCR and crowbar as weapons against his cousin and her brother.Hines' defense contends that Hines was not at the home the day the alleged attack took place, in July 2003.The jury began deliberations on Friday after attorneys on both sides gave their closing arguments. The jury deliberated for about three hours Friday and seven hours on Monday.Hines was acquitted in December in the 2003 murder of 11-year-old Shakira Johnson.
