SOLON, Ohio -- Shooting deer to control the population continues to be the hot-button issue in the city of Solon. Now, one Solon woman is taking the city to court in order to stop the sharpshooters from taking aim near her home.Katherine Doherty, an animal and nature lover, says she moved to Solon to enjoy the views of nature from her window. But now the deer that she loves to watch are the target of sharpshooters."I felt absolutely safe buying my house five years ago and now I don't like it. It's like living in a war zone," said Doherty.Doherty says she was so concerned for her safety that she took the city to court to stop the sharpshooters from taking aim from her neighbor's property.Attorney Sarah Moore says they wanted a temporary restraining order, and went to court Wednesday. The city has agreed to notify Doherty if and when that neighboring land will be used. The city says sharp shooting is the best way to control the deer population."I do believe this is probably the fastest and easiest way to control the problem," said Dave Hromco. So far, the deer management program has killed 475 deer. The city has permission to kill a total of 600.The program is expected to end later this month.
