Faith Healer To Hold Extra Healing Service

Service Will Begin At 9 P.M. At St. Bernadette Saturday

UPDATED: 3:55 pm EST March 16, 2005

Ticketholders for Sunday's healing service with Dr. Issam Nemeh will get another chance to see the healer with two additional services.

Those who had tickets will be able to attend a service on Saturday night. The service will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, located at 2256 Clague Road, in Westlake. People are asked not to call the church prior to the service.

NewsChannel5's Tracy Carloss reported that Nemeh and his team were upset that so many people had to be turned away Sunday night from Sts. Peter and Paul Church, in Garfield Heights.

More than 9,000 people packed a Garfield Heights church Sunday to be part of what the faithful are calling healing miracles. An estimated 7,000 of those people left without ever getting inside the church.

The extra service will begin at 9 p.m. and end at midnight both Monday and Saturday. Attendees are asked not to show up earlier than 9 p.m.

Only those with tickets will be allowed to attend.

Attendees at Sunday's event said they answered the call to be healed at the hands of the local doctor and his team, who they believe are faith healers.

The story of spiritual healing in northeast Ohio has gained worldwide attention since Ted Henry first reported on the services last month, NewsChannel5 reported.

Hundreds of e-mails and phone calls flooded into the station about Nemeh achieving an astonishing rate of success in treating thousands of seriouly ill people with prayer.

The turnout Sunday crowded St. Peter and Paul Church.

Traffic in Garfield Heights was jammed. Police had to tell people that parking was full and to return later in the day.

Some people came in wheelchairs, some in stretchers to see Dr. Issam Nemeh. Each person was given a ticket that helped create a line for entering the church.

Nemeh was seeing about 60 to 80 people per hour at the church.

The doors of the church were closed at about 9:30 p.m. A general blessing was done for anyone still inside the church at midnight. The service finally concluded at 2:30 a.m.

Nemeh's office said that the service was shut down after the doctor became exhausted.

Those still wanting to attend should go to the next service April 3 at St. Ignatius High School, located on West 30th Street, in Cleveland.

NewsChannel5 reported that one woman was overwhelmed at the Garfield Heights service and collapsed. She said the faith healer touched spots on her body that were hurting without her telling him where they were located.

Barbara Wasco suffers from a neuro-muscular condition and she said she's in amazment of what happened to her.

"He touched the spot without me ever saying anything. He touched the spots that were hurting. That is truly amazing to me," Wasco said.

Leaders with the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland said that while this is a wonderful display of the work of the Lord, it should not replace modern medicine.

Most people said they attended the service after seeing Henry's series on NewsChannel5.
