3 Men Charged With Killing Mentor Native, Husband

Couple Disappeared While Selling Boat

UPDATED: 10:46 am EST March 6, 2005

Police in California charged three men with killing a missing couple with northeast Ohio connections.

Mentor native Jackie Hawks, 47, and her husband, Tom, were last seen in November trying to sell their boat in California, NewsChannel5 reported.

The Hawks were retired and traveling back and forth from southern California to San Carlos, Mexico.

All three face two counts of murder with special circumstances, crimes that police said make them eligible for the death penalty.
