Police: Suspected Robber Connected To 7 Parma Hold-Ups

Police Say Man Robbed Businesses To Support Drug Habit

POSTED: 6:34 pm EST March 1, 2005

Willoughby police caught a suspected robber police said was so brazen he even stopped wearing a mask during hold-ups, and now authorities say the suspect may be responsible for dozens of other robberies in several cities.

NewsChannel5's Joe Pagonakis reported that several of the robberies allegedly committed by 41-year-old Stephen Dackiewicz were caught on tape.

Dackiewicz was arrested in Willoughby two weeks ago for three hold-ups, and now surveillance footage is connecting him to robberies in four other cities.

SLIDESHOW: Suspected Robber Caught On Tape

Parma police Detective Michael Kline said Dackiewicz is now connected to seven separate hold-ups in Parma.

He said that Dackiewicz is a man with a drug addiction who robbed businesses to support his habit.

Police say he hit an Arby's on Snow Road, a Subway and a Dairy Queen on Broadview Road, and a Ridge Road Donato's Pizza.

Other cities are looking at robberies that have been captured on video to see if Dackiewicz hit their businesses as well.

Parma is sure they have their man and all because of surveillance technology, reported Pagonakis.

Police departments in the various cities are also trying to determine if Dackiewicz acted alone or if he used a getaway driver to help leave the scene of the crime.
