Police: Man Attempts To Abduct Girl Headed To School
Residents Concerned About Safety Of Neighborhood

CLEVELAND -- Police say a man tried to abduct a 14-year-old Cleveland girl Tuesday morning as she was heading to school, reported NewsChannel5. The man grabbed the girl at East 77th Street and Korman as she was on her way to catch a bus, according to police.Lt. Wayne Drummond said the girl was able to get away. She ran home and told her father.Police say her attacker ran off toward St. Clair Avenue after the attempted abduction.Drummond also said he believes the attacker probably lives in the neighborhood.People in the neighborhood are concerned about the recent attempted abductions in the area. NewsChannel5's Debora Lee reported that this is the third incident of this nature in recent months.Resident George Cook said there are good people who live in the neighborhood, but people such as the attempted kidnapper make it bad for everyone."If you had a daughter, would you let her walk to school by herself?" said Cook. "Not in this neighborhood … this neighborhood is not good."Police are looking for a dark-skinned black man, about 5 feet 2 inches tall and 130 pounds.The man is about 30 years old and was wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
