City Hall Says Construction Company Plans To Move Mound

AKRON, Ohio -- A huge pile of dirt that has been an eyesore for some Akron residents will soon have a new home. NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen reported that it is still a mystery as to where the dirt will be going.The mound of dirt is near Success Road, right off of Home Avenue.Katherine Martin's backyard faces the dirt, and she hopes it will be moved far away from her home.
SLIDESHOW: Mountain Of Dirt She said the pile began about six years ago, and continued to get higher and higher. She said there are other problems with the pile, such as mudslides, rodents, standing water and mosquitoes.Kenmore Construction is the company that owns the property, and lately there's been heavy equipment moving some of the dirt.Martin says it may take a while to remove all the dirt, but she believes and hopes what she sees is a start.Akron City Hall said they just learned that the owner of the dirt pile is indeed moving it.
