New Law Requires Jail Time For Multiple DUI Convictions

Police: Woman Drunk Behind Wheel 11 Times

POSTED: 9:14 am EST January 19, 2005

According to police, a Hudson woman has been drunk behind the wheel 11 times, and she will now have to serve jail time because of a new law, NewsChannel5 reported.

Police believe Jane Senne was driving while intoxicated when she struck another vehicle, injuring the driver.

Police charged Senne under a new law that calls for mandatory jail time for habitual offenders.

Summit County prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh helped write the new law.

The law adds a mandatory one- to five-year prison term for people convicted of five or more DUIs.

The victim in the crash is recovering from injuries at Akron's St. Thomas Hospital.
