Man Arrested In Connection With Couple's Disappearance

Police Say Man Laundered Money, Bought Couple's Yacht

POSTED: 3:29 pm EST December 21, 2004

Police in Newport Beach, Calif., arrested a man Monday in connection with the disappearance of a northeast Ohio native and her husband, reported NewsChannel5.

Tom and Jackie Hawks, a retired Arizona couple, haven't been seen in more than a month. They were last seen showing their yacht to prospective buyers.

Now 25-year-old Skylar Deleon is charged with money laundering in connection with the purchase of the 55-foot yacht.

He reportedly paid $400,000 in cash for the boat. Deleon says he had nothing to do with the Hawks' disappearance.

Authorities also found the Hawks' car in Mexico.

Jackie Hawks is originally from Mentor, and the couple still has family living in northeast Ohio.
