CLEVELAND -- A Mentor native may be part of a high seas adventure that turned tragic, NewsChannel5 reported.Jackie Hawks, 47, grew up in Mentor. Hawks and her husband, Tom, haven't been heard from in about a month. The couple’s disappearance may be connected to a boat they were trying to sell, officials said."I think something is wrong," said Ryan Hawk. "I think something is missing. I think something is really wrong."The couple vanished after they were trying to sell their yacht.Days after taking the boat out with a prospective buyer, the yacht was found in its usual spot, but the couple's car was missing, WEWS reported."The circumstances under which they have disappeared are of grave concern to us because they are normally in touch with their family and friends on a regular basis," said Sgt. Steve Shulman, of Newport Beach. "For going this long without having talked to them is very suspicious and there could be a crime."The Hawks were retired and traveling back and forth from southern California to San Carlos, Mexico, WEWS reported.Their son fears the worst."Every day I wake up in the morning, it's another day and I don’t have an answer. That's all I can think about in life, and I want some closure and I want an ending and I want them back in my life," he said.Police interviewed the prospective buyer of the boat. Investigators said that person has been cooperative. The couple's car has not been found.
