CLEVELAND -- A man posing as a plain-clothes police officer is on the loose, NewsChannel5 reported. Officials said he is pretending to be a police officer and pulling people over and then taking their cash. Two incidents have occurred in the past few days.At about 11 p.m. Tuesday, a man was stopped at West 44th Street and Interstate 90.Police said a man reportedly walked up to the car, and as the driver was getting ready to get his wallet out, the imposter grabbed the individual's money and fled the scene. The first incident reported to officials happened on Sunday afternoon on West 73rd Street.Police said the makeshift police car is a four-door, dark-colored car with clear flashing lights. The man is described as a black male about 30 to 35 years old. He is about 6 feet tall weighing between 150 and 200 pounds.Meanwhile, Lt. Wayne Drummond said police cruisers don't have clear flashing lights."The lights in the car should be red and blue. If they are clear, don't stop or go to a well-lit area," he said.WEWS reported a legitimate officer will also have a badge, photo identification and most likely carry a portable radio.Police said it's OK to ask to have a marked car or supervisor respond to the scene. If you have any information, call police at (216) 623-5118 or (216) 623-5218.
