LAKE COUNTY, Ohio -- An 81-year-old electrician was sentenced to 30 days in jail Wednesday in the electrocution death of an 8-year-old at the Lake County Fair, reported NewsChannel5. Judge Gene Lucci also sentenced Nick Rock to two years probation, 200 hours in community service, and he must pay restitution of $55,000 to the family of Grayson Yoe."It's unimaginable the horror of this event," said Lucci. "I can't fathom what the Yoes are going through. In a world untouched by mercy or justice, I would demand your life."Rock was found guilty last month of reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter.Prosecutors say Rock, a fairground electrician, failed to properly ground the bumper car ride at the fair, which resulted in Yoe being electrocuted while standing in line last August.Four others were charged in Yoe's death, including two state inspectors.WEWS reported that Rock, an active community member and a World War II veteran, had never before been to court. He spoke briefly before his sentencing."I feel heavy remorse for the child, God rest his soul, and the parents," said Rock.Rock's lawyer immediately filed an appeal following his sentencing.
