AKRON, Ohio -- Testimony ended Wednesday in the trial of an indicted Muslim cleric, only two days after the trial began, reported NewsChannel5. After two days of prosecution testimony, the defense for Imam Fawaz Damra decided not to call any witnesses.Federal prosecutors accuse Damra, the Palestinian-born Imam of the Islamic Center of Cleveland, of lying about his connections to terrorist organizations when he applied for citizenship.P />
The government showed the jury videotapes in which Damra is raising money for a group that the government says is a front for a terrorist organization.On the second day of the trial, supporters of Damra filled part of the courtroom.The jury will begin deliberations Thursday morning.The 41-year-old faces $5,000 in fines, five years in prison and deportation if he is found guilty.
