Longest-Serving Mayor Out Of Office

Mayor John Coyne's Last Day Was Thursday

The longest-serving mayor in the nation will no longer be in office.

NewsChannel5 reports that Mayor John Coyne finished his last day as the head of the city of Brooklyn Thursday. He was mayor for 52 years until he was voted out of office in November.

He says he's not finished with public service, however. He plans to run for Brooklyn School Board.

The city's service director, Kenneth Patton, will take over.
