Perry Plant Is Going Hi-Tech
It Will Cost $6 Million
PAINESVILLE, Ohio, Posted 1:48 p.m. September 2, 1999 -- The emergency system at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant is going high-tech.
NewsChannel5 reports Lake County and FirstEnergy will split the $6 million it will cost to have state-of-the-art equipment.It now has one of the largest boiling water nuclear reactors in the region.
The Associated Press reports FirstEnergy executives and county commissioners agreed that the funds will be used to replace 1987 equipment that is becoming obsolete. When the work is done, the facility will have the best equipment available.
