The crash happened at about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Briele and Roosevelt boulevards in Middletown.

Police were called to a home on Lylburn for a report of a man -- later identified as Oscar Jimenez, 21, of Middletown -- allegedly dousing himself with gasoline.

Jimenez sped away from the home before police arrived, but two nearby officers saw his car and began following it, according to Lt. Don Owens of the Middletown Police Department.

Jimenez traveled about a mile, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph and running through several red lights before crashing head-on into another car.

The impact sheared the roof off the second car and instantly killed the driver, Kimberly Weaver, 24, of Miamisburg, Ohio, police said.

Jimenez was also pronounced dead at the accident scene.
