AKRON, Ohio -- A state appeals court in Akron has extended a stay in the case of a 6-month-old boy in a coma.
Lawyers for the parents and the court-appointed guardian of Aiden Stein filed papers Monday arguing over whether the boy should remain on life support.
The 9th Ohio District Court of Appeals court ruled Tuesday that the baby must stay on life support while the court reviews the case.
Aiden's 21-year-old parents, Matthew Stein and Arica Heimlich, want him to remain on life support.
Police believe Aiden is a victim of shaken-baby syndrome at the hands of his father. He could face charges if the baby dies.
Doctors have testified that Aiden should be removed from life support, saying that he has brain damage and will never recover.
