CLEVELAND -- A former Brook Park mayor was sentenced Monday for a drunken driving conviction, reported NewsChannel5.
Tom Coyne, who is currently chairman of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, was given three days in jail and a $700 fine.Coyne will have his license suspended for one year. He was given two years active probation, and must submit to random drug testing if requested.He also must spend five days in patient alcohol assessment at The Cleveland Clinic. Coyne could have been given driving privileges if he agreed to have alcohol devices installed in his car; he declined.Police said Coyne refused to take a breath-alcohol test when officers stopped him on Sept. 12 after noticing that his car was weaving. But Coyne said police treated him unfairly.
