ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a sport utility vehicle pulled over for speeding in northeast Ohio contained an arsenal, reported NewsChannel5.
The patrol said Jeffrey L. Jordan, of New Hampshire, was arrested on the felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon following the traffic stop Monday along Interstate 71 in Ashland County. He was released after posting bond.
Patrol Lt. Dick Miller said the trooper who pulled over the Nissan Pathfinder called for backup after noticing semiautomatic pistol magazines in a holder on the man's belt.
Troopers searched the man and found two loaded handguns, another loaded magazine, seven knives and a can of chemical irritant.
Also found was a homemade device, possibly some kind of detonator.
"We don't know what it is. We sent it to BCI, they might send it to the Summit County Bomb Squad to see if it's some sort of trigger," said one trooper.
Troopers searched the vehicle Wednesday after obtaining a warrant. They found a locked case with an assault rifle, several swords and about 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
