Tomato-Throwers Plead Guilty
Juveniles Expected To Appear Monday

MILLERSBURG, Ohio -- Three people appeared in Holmes County Court Friday morning in connection with throwing tomatoes at passing vehicles.
The men, ages 20, 21, 22, pleaded guilty to vehicular vandalism, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The judge sentenced the men to spend two weekends in jail and pay a $500 fine. They will also be on probation for three years and have to perform 100 hours of community service.
Eight teens also were charged with throwing tomatoes at passing vehicles in a prank that led to the shooting death of their friend.
The juveniles range in age from 15 to 17. Each was charged with delinquency by reason of vehicular vandalism. They are expected to be in court Monday.
Marion D. Weaver, 58, of Millersburg, was charged with murder and involuntary manslaughter for allegedly returning to the scene after his car was pelted and fatally shooting Steven L. Keim,
23, of Apple Creek.
Weaver, who was charged with firing a shotgun into the cornfield where the alleged vandals were hiding, has pleaded not guilty. His case is scheduled for trial Dec. 8 in this community 65 miles south
of Cleveland.
