'For Shakira's Sake: Protecting Our Children' Airs Thursday
The death of 11-year-old Shakira Johnson is bringing a community together in grief and outrage. How could this happen to an innocent young girl? What can be done to keep it from happening again?
To answer those tough questions, NewsChannel5 will air a 5 On Your Side Town Hall on Thursday at 11:35 p.m. hosted by Ted Henry and Tonya Strong.
The special titled "For Shakira's Sake: Protecting Our Children" will bring together parents, police and child safety experts to take a hard look at this crisis facing our community. It will explore the Amber Alert System, talk with parents of other missing children, share the latest information in the Shakira Johsnon case and give useful information to parents that could help save their own child's life.
"Shakira has a legacy. She has united the community," said WEWS News Director Lynn Heider. "It is our hope that this town hall special could help save the lives of other children."
