Body Found Behind Akron Elementary School

17-Year-Old Victim Died Of Gunshot Wound To Head

POSTED: 11:41 a.m. EDT October 17, 2003

A teenager whose body was found Friday in the parking lot of an elementary school died of a gunshot wound to the head, the Summit County medical examiner's office said.

Frank Robinson, 17, of Akron, was found outside Rankin Elementary School by a school employee, said police, who were called to the scene shortly before 6 a.m.

Police are treating the shooting as a homicide, Lt. Sylvia Trundle said.

A letter was sent home with students. It did not mention the violence but said students were at no time in harm's way and that counselors were on hand for students and staff.
