ELYRIA, Ohio -- A 90-year-old man is on trial today -- for rape.
The woman accusing Santos Davilla of rape says he forced her to have sex with him twice in 1985, when she was 10 years old. Davilla was then 72.
Davilla speaks only Spanish and has to listen through headphones for a translator to repeat his accuser's words.
Davilla used a walker to enter the Lorain County courtroom Thursday. He has been in the county jail since July 2002 and has asked to be transferred to a nursing home.
The woman -- Davilla's-step great-granddaughter -- says she and her brother stayed in Davilla's home for two weeks in the summer of 1985. She filed a report with police in 1990, by which time Davilla had moved to Puerto Rico.
