CANAL FULTON, Ohio -- A Northwest High School star football player said he will never play football for the school again.
Cody Butzer, 18, said the school suspended him because of a Monday night fight, which led to an assault charge. Butzer has been involved in a circle of controversy amid accusations of underage drinking with two cheerleaders. They were suspended, but Butzer was spared. Many parents and students are wondering if Butzer got preferential treatment. Butzer was able to avoid suspension for the alcohol incident but must now appear in court to answer to the assault charges. His hearing is scheduled for Oct. 26. Butzer is calling the incident with the pizza deliveryman self-defense.
