Football Player Stays On Team After Involvement In Drinking Incident

Cheerleaders Kicked Off Squad, Soccer Team

Northwest High School officials kicked two girls off the cheerleading team, but allowed a football player to continue playing after they underwent Breathalyzer tests, and parents are upset, NewsChannel5 reported.

The two cheerleaders and a star football player were tested after showing signs that they had been drinking. The alcohol was reportedly consumed at the football player's home after homecoming the last weekend.

One of the cheerleaders who was pulled over after driving 36 mph in a 25-mph zone. The cheerleaders reportedly admitted to drinking, but the football player said he hadn't consumed any alcohol for six hours. Reports indicate the girls admitted drinking.

They were all in the same car.

Police said dashboard video showed the football player's portable test fell on the ground. This may have affected the results of the test. Check back later for the dashboard video.

Amy Schill, the cheerleading coach, said when she allowed her squad to protest the decision, she was suspended.

The students did not receive any other citations.

School officials said the decision was made with the information that was found in the police report. They maintain the football player was not given preferential treatment.

The girls were kicked off the school's soccer team as well as the cheerleading squad.
