CLEVELAND -- Mervyn Jones, husband of Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, passed away late Thursday night at his home. He was 53.
The cause of death hasn't been disclosed.
The longtime couple have one son, Mervyn Jones II. The couple married in 1976 in Cleveland. Mervyn Jones had worked
as a home rehabilitator and had bought and sold rental properties.
Tubbs-Jones is a Democrat who represents Ohio's
11th Congressional District. Before becoming a congresswoman, she served as Cuyahoga County
prosecutor.
Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell expressed her sympathy. "Our hearts go out to Stephanie and her family and I ask all Clevelanders to join me in prayer for strength for their family."
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
