Van Could Be Key To Shakira's Disappearance
Police Release 2 Photographs

CLEVELAND -- Police have released pictures of a minivan that was in the neighborhood shortly before Shakira Johnson, 11, disappeared more than two weeks ago.
NewsChannel5's Ted Hart reported that the pictures were taken from a home security camera on East 106th Street between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sept. 13, which was about the time the girl disappeared during a block party. Investigators said the odel minivan, which was possibly a Ford Windstar, drove down the street and then drove back 18 minutes later. Police believe the van is most likely a 2002 or 2003 model. It is described as light in color, either silver, light blue or champagne. They say the vehicle is unfamiliar to residents on the street. Detectives want to talk to the owner or occupants -- not as suspects, but as possible witnesses. They believe they may have seen someone or something that could be helpful to the investigation. They have no reason at this point to believe the van is a suspect vehicle. Still, the information is not much to go on. Neighbors are starting to get discouraged by the lack of any real developments in the case. "(It was) broad daylight and everybody (was) out, and nobody see nothing," neighbor Sharon Barber said.
Police said they are still getting leads in the case and following up every one. They plan to go back into the neighborhood again to re-question some people and look for any clues they might have missed. "I'm quite sure if it was someone she didn't know (there) would have been a commotion, so it makes you wonder if somebody ain't telling the truth," Barber said. The 11-year-old is about 4 feet 7 inches tall and 70 pounds. She has light brown eyes, and her sandy brown hair was in a ponytail when she disappeared. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to where Shakira might be. Call (216) 252-7463 with information regarding the girl's disappearance.
