Police Appeal To Public For Help

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police and neighborhood volunteers continue the search for 11-year-old Shakira Johnson.
Twenty police officers, 20 FBI agents and two consultants from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are all on the case. Shakira is about four feet, seven inches and weighs 80 pounds. She has light brown eyes and her sandy brown hair was in a ponytail when she disappeared a week ago Saturday night. Police are also looking for a car that might be connected. It's a bright red, four-door Ford Escort or Mercury Tracer with an older style license plate. Police again used bloodhounds during the weekend to search vacant buildings and lots on Cleveland's east side. Police Chief Edward Lohn cautioned the public against drawing conclusions about progress in the investigation based on reports about police interviews, search warrants or arrests of parole violators. "We must keep an open mind," Lohn said. "We're going to keep working this case until we get it resolved." Call Cleveland police at (216) 621-1234 if you have any information.
