Kucinich Fires Up New Hampshire Crowd
Congressman Says He's Only Candidate Who Can Beat Bush
POSTED: 12:44 p.m. EDT September 21, 2003
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Presidential hopeful Rep. Dennis Kucinich is telling New Hampshire voters he's the only Democrat who can beat President George W. Bush.
The Ohio congressman is barely registering a blip in New Hampshire polls.
But he told a group of supporters in Manchester Saturday he has a long record of beating Republican incumbents and that his platform offers the clearest contrast to Bush's policies. He said he can attract young voters, members of the Green Party and even Libertarians.
Kucinich, who opposed the war in Iraq, is promoting universal health care and a federal Department of Peace.
He spoke at the "Rolling Thunder Down Home Democracy Tour," an event promoting peace, fair trade, and other progressive issues.
Kucinich is one of 10 Democratic candidates running for president in 2004.
