CLEVELAND -- Six people were in court Thursday in connection with the search for a missing 11-year-old girl, NewsChannel5 reported.
The men were arraigned on kidnapping charges.
Police said when Minister Richard Muhammad and other members of the Nation of Islam went to a local home, the men forced themselves inside. They are also accused of assaulting an 18-year-old and then driving the teen's mother around, trying to get information out of her, WEWS said. The men were reportedly searching for Shakira Johnson. She has been missing for five days."This is a classic example of why the police failed and continue to fail when trying to establish a relationship with the black community," Muhammad said. "Because when you come into a situation like this, and we are out doing a good work, we are being prosecuted and persecuted by the police of this city."
