PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake County Sheriff's Department now knows what caused an 8-year-old boy to be severely shocked on a ride at the Lake County Fair last week.
NewsChannel5 reported that, after investigation, it appears improper grounding of the bumper car ride sent a jolt through Greyson Yoe (pictured, left) after he touched a pole. The Sheriff's Department is expected to release a full report Tuesday, and that report is likely to be sent to the Lake County prosecutor's office for charges to be filed. Yoe remains in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center. Officials said the ride, called the Scooter, apparently passed a seven-point electrical inspection by the state on Monday and Tuesday before the fair kicked off. But fairgoers said workers apparently knew riders were being shocked a couple of hours before Yoe was severely injured. They were apparently asked to shut the ride down, but didn't.
