Family Of Slain Shoplifting Suspect Sues Store, Officer

41-Year-Old Killed By Security Guard

POSTED: 6:57 p.m. EDT May 27, 2003

Dillard's department store is facing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit following the death of a suspected shoplifter.

NewsChannel5 reported that Guy Wills (pictured, right), 41, died in November after being slammed to the ground by Officer Jameel Talley, who was working as a security guard at the Dillard's at Randall Park Mall.

Wills' family is now suing both Talley and Dillard's for $100 million, saying both were responsible.

A jury convicted Talley earlier this month. His sentencing is set for next month.
