FBI Gets Involved In Search For Missing Teen

17-Year-Old Disappears After Leaving Work

POSTED: 11:39 a.m. EDT May 4, 2003

A local teenager has been missing for almost two weeks, and now the FBI has gotten involved in the search.

Amanda Berry

NewsChannel5 reported that Amanda Berry (pictured, right), 17, disappeared on April 21 after leaving at around 8 p.m. from her job at the Burger King on Lorain Avenue and West 110th Street.

Berry was last seen wearing a burgundy Burger King shirt with black pants and a black hooded coat.

The teen was supposed to be picked up by a friend and was going to celebrate her birthday that weekend, but she hasn't been seen since.

"It's a mysterious disappearance at the very least," said Bob Hawk, of the FBI. "She apparently has a good relationship with her mother. She has never done anything like this in the past. So those are indicators this is a very unusual case."

The FBI is now offering a reward to help find Berry and reunite her with her family.

Her family said they are gathering at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to hold a vigil and walk her last known path.

Those with any information on Berry's disappearance are urged to contact the Cleveland branch of the FBI.
