The Lorain County coroner is planning to perform an autopsy this weekend on a 9-year-old Kiersten Sump, who collapsed and died while she was ice skating.

The girl was skating at Elyria North Recreation Center on Duffy Road in Elyria when she collapsed around 9 p.m. Friday, coroner Paul Matus said.

It is unknown whether the girl died of natural causes or if she tripped, hit her head and died. There is no criminal investigation into the incident.

The child was transported Elyria Memorial Hospital where medical personnel attempted to revive her. She was officially pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m.
