ODOT Raises Speed Limit On I-77

UPDATED: 12:49 pm EST November 25, 2009

The Ohio Department of Transportation is posting new speed limit signs on Interstate 77 Wednesday.

The speed limit will be raised from 55 mph to 65 mph on a stretch of I-77 north from Vernon Odom Boulevard in Akron to Cleveland-Massillon Road in Fairlawn.

Earlier this month, the cities voted to raise the speed limit.

The Ohio Department of Transportation did a traffic study that determined the higher speed limit would be appropriate now that the stretch of highway has been increased to three lanes.
