CLEVELAND -- There is some good news for holiday travelers as well as everyday commuters with regards to Cleveland's Innerbelt Bridge. The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that lanes and ramps for the bridge will reopen on Wednesday after having been closed for more than a year. The bridge's outside lanes were closed in both directions when officials deemed them to be unsafe. Crews have been working to fix the problems since them.ODOT said Interstate 90 westbound traffic has returned to its original configuration, including truck traffic, and motorists can use the Ontario entrance ramp.I-90 eastbound traffic has been reopened to three, through lanes of traffic and one, dedicated lane for those motorists entering I-90 from W. 14th Street. The West 14th Street ramp to I-90 connects Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood to the highway, and area residents and business owners have said that the closure had a negative impact. The right lane of I-90 as it merges onto the Innerbelt at the I-71/I-490 split will remain closed and truck traffic will remain detoured from the bridge in the eastbound direction.ODOT said at least one more weekend closure is expected to complete repairs and minor repairs will continue through the winter.Construction of a new westbound Innerbelt bridge will begin in 2011.
