5 Taken To Hospital After Van Rolls Over In Crash

AKRON, Ohio -- Emergency officials responded to a crash Tuesday afternoon on state Route 59 in Akron.Additional medical units were called to check out 9 disabled passengers and driver of a van that collided with a car just after noon near Dart Avenue.Akron police said that a 2007 Mazda ran a red light, crashed into the van and made it overturn.The van driver and two passengers were taken to Akron General Hospital. They were treated and released.Two other passengers were treated and released from Akron City Hospital.Two people in the car were not injured.The van was registered to the Tarry House on South Portage Path. NewsChannel5's partner, The Akron Beacon Journal, reported that the Tarry House is an affiliate Agency of the County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Service BoardPolice said Susan Schwabe, 62, the driver of the Mazda, was cited for a red light violation.
