Atheist Billboard Spurs Controversy Around Country

UPDATED: 1:46 pm EST November 13, 2009

A billboard going up across the country is spurring controversy.

The billboards read "Don't believe In God? You are not alone." One of them is now displayed along Interstate 480 west near Pearl Road in Cleveland.

The group behind the billboards, the Coalition of Reason, said it just wants atheists to know that there are others out there.

"Some people may respond negatively to the question, but that is not the point. We are not here to offend anybody," said Coalition of Reason's Debbie Allen Skomer.

While there hasn't been much of an uproar in the Cleveland area, the signs have led to threats and hate mail in other cities, and the billboard in Cincinnati is being taken down.
